Class of 1967 August M. Watanabe Student Wellness Fund
As we know so well, the field of medicine is changing. It has never been more challenging and exciting to become a physician. However, with change in the medical field comes heightened stress and difficulty. Students
face numerous challenges during school and training, not to mention the stresses they will encounter when they
enter practice. The School of Medicine is striving to address these concerns, but more support is desperately needed.
The Class of 1967 August M. Watanabe Student Wellness Fund will help meet this need by supporting student wellness services such as counseling and stress-management activities. We know these can make all the difference in the lives and careers of medical professionals; this fund will help students manage the trials and travails of medicine during medical school and throughout their lives.
As we approach our 50th reunion in 2017, the time has never been better to celebrate the legacy of Gus Watanabe and support the scholarship endowment named in his honor. Many of us knew Gus well from our days in medical school. He was a brilliant physician and scientist who improved the lives of patients around the world. But beyond that, he was a warm and engaging person who was both thoughtful and funny. It seems fitting to remember him by establishing a fund that will help so many young people who are following in our footsteps.
Please join us making a commitment to honor Gus and help the next generation of physicians today.
