Richard B. and Anne O. Kohler Scholarship
Honoring Richard B. Kohler, M.D.
Many people have benefited from Dr. Richard Kohler’s commitment to his trainees, patients and profession through his work at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Department of Medicine and Division of Infectious Diseases. In recognition of his distinguished career since 1977, a campaign to endow a named scholarship in honor of Dr. Kohler has been launched and we hope you will consider donating to this worthy cause.
Dr. Kohler’s devotion to his students, residents and fellows and his genuine concern for their personal and professional well-being is equally inspiring. He has been recognized numerous times for his excellence in teaching holding many various educator awards. Whether you have developed a relationship with Dr. Kohler as a resident, fellow, student, colleague, friend or family member, you understand the degree to which he has elevated the standard of medical education.
For these reasons, the Richard B. and Anne O. Kohler Scholarship is being established. We all know a medical education is expensive and can take years to pay back. It seems only fitting that future students will have the opportunity for financial support with a scholarship baring the name of a man so passionate for education. It will also provide lasting recognition of Dr. Kohler’s distinguished career, and we can think of no better way to honor him.
Together, we are confident we can raise $100,000 and honor him in the most fitting way possible. On June 30, 2016 the Department of Medicine will be recognizing Dr. Kohler’s incredible career and we would like to announce the scholarship has been fully funded. Because he is held in such high regard by so many people, Dean Jay Hess has agreed to match that total – doubling your impact, but only if we reach the goal. Your generous support to the Kohler Scholarship, today, will ensure that his legacy will continue at Indiana University in perpetuity. Please know that gifts of any amount are needed and appreciated, and contributions can be made as an outright gift, or a pledge to be paid over 5 years.
This will be our expression of gratitude, appreciation and tribute to a man who has enriched our lives. Dr. Kohler is a mentor, friend and outstanding educator. Please help us honor him by joining forces and creating a medical student scholarship in his name.
